Hemorrhoids / Hemroids

The experience of having hemorrhoids can be very painful for an individual and they are known as large veins that are located within the rectum or around the anus area. We all have two veins that help the blood flow work its way from the anus and rectum. Internal hemroids can cause excruciating pain when passing stool. They are internal hemorrhoids and external hemroids. Internal hemorrhoids are hard to treat because they are inside the rectum. A doctor may be able to prescribe medication such as an anti-inflammatory which could reduce the build up of blood in the vein. External hemorrhoids are much easier to take care of as you can use topical creams and ointments to heal them and take away some of the pain or burning and provide hemorrhoid relief.

There are a few causes for hemorrhoids, but mainly they develop when there is straining present during a bowel movement. A normal bowel movement cycle is approximately one or two a day. When people become constipated there is a lot of straining on the rectum and anus. Hemorrhoids are also associated with pregnancy because of the strain on the body to hold a child in the womb. Almost everyone will experience a hemroid in their lifetime. Liver disease can also cause a person to have hemorrhoids because there is a large amount of pressure applied to the veins in the anus and rectum.

The symptoms of hemorrhoids are simple. People with hemroids experience itchiness and bleeding. The individual may not know exactly what they are dealing with until they check with a doctor. If people see blood on their toilet tissue after passing stool this can be a sure sign that they have a case of hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can also cause there to be blood present in the stool, or blood might show up in the toilet bowl.

Hemorrhoids can also cause prolapsed hemroids. This can occur when the internal hemorrhoids are inflamed and pass throughout the entire anus. There are ways to treat hemorrhoids from your own home. If you have Witch Hazel in the house this can be a wise way to treat your hemroids. Witch Hazel is good for bruises, burns, cuts and it is a cooling and healing liquid. There is no sting, so do not worry. You can also push a hemorroids back into the anus most of the time if they are external. This can take away some of the discomfort when sitting or walking.

Some hemorroids can lead to thrombosis. This is when external hemroids become inflamed and cause a lot of pain and bleeding. In thrombosis a blood clot forms within the hemroid and causes the hemorrhoid to become even worse than it already it. It is a good idea to see a doctor if you feel this might be a condition you are dealing with. It might be somewhat strange to have it checked, but that is what the doctor is there for. They can also recommend some over the counter ointments or prescribe you a medication to reduce the pain. If the pain is unbearable and you find you are afraid to pass stool that may increase the pain, you must visit a doctor so they can help you in this matter.
